How many people have you met that didn’t like ice cream? How many of those people were lactose intolerant? And now, how many of those people who didn’t like ice cream were on a strict “diet”? Subtract all those people and you probably only know a few—if any—people who genuinely dislike ice cream. If you could gather everybody in the world that doesn’t like ice cream, what would you say? How would you convince these naysayers that they should enjoy ice cream? Maybe you can start with some overlooked benefits…
· It’s a Source of Calcium
The base of ice cream is milk. Milk is a main source of the mineral, Calcium, which we need to build and strengthen our bones. Calcium prevents tooth decay, increases bone density, and helps strengthen our bodies many other ways. Unfortunately, bodies can’t produce calcium on their own, so it’s necessary to consume calcium through food (like ice cream!).
· Provides Other Vitamins, Minerals, and Proteins
Ice cream can be healthy? Believe it. Though it may not be a super food like kale or avocado, ice cream does have vitamins, minerals and other nutrients mixed in with its sweetness. Ice cream is rich with Vitamin K, which prevents blood clots. Vitamins A, B2, and B12 are also found in ice cream and offer a range of benefits like boosting the metabolism, encouraging a healthy immune system, and supporting the retina for low-light and color vision. B Vitamins are water-soluble and are not stored in the body, so it is important to consume foods that contain the vitamins (like ice cream!).
· Gives you Energy
Some might call it a sugar rush—we call it energy. We can all agree that energy is important, and most of us don’t have enough of it. The bad stuff that people talk about like carbohydrates and fats? They provide energy. They’re only bad if you don’t use the energy they provide. So if you live an active and healthy life-style, ice cream is your friend. Not only does it cool down your internal temperature, but it also provides the nutrients needed to strengthen and build your body.
· Boosts your Mood
It’s a fact that ice cream makes people happy. In fact, it’s been scientifically proven that ice cream activates the pleasure spots on the brain. These spots light up when we listen to good music, receive money, and experience anything else that causes pleasure. Ice cream can connect someone to a memory, a person, or even a place. Ice cream make a sick child feel better, and can mend a broken heart. There are few things more beneficial than the cold sweetness of ice cream.
